Hi and welcome to the site

Getting approval for I140 takes anything from 6 months depending on which service center it has gone to. One approved you then are affected by retrogression and have a long wait in front of you, currently looking at a couple of years. Much has been written on retrogression so would suggest a search and checking the threads out. Would also considering getting yur NCLEX sorted whilst you are waiting as it is exam you will need to take at some stage and we do not recommend California for initial licensure as they will not issue a license without SSN and you can not get that until in the US on a valid work visa, again much has been written on that

Hi Katayoon I am an iranian australian nurse, educated in australia. just came across your email and as I have plan to apply for licenture for California state thought to get intouch with you. can you please give me some advise, I do not know where to start from. Do you have a US SSN because without one you can not apply to CA? Also be aware many post especially in CA on the difficulties in finding jobs

no I do not have SS# at the moment , but might be able to obtain through my husabnd job ( am I right?), if nursing job in California is difficult where is USA there is more nursing job avilable? can u advise me ? so I directly apply to that state

I think you can only get a US SSN if you have a valid visa like work or immigrant, being on your husband's visa may not be enough to get one. If you look around you will see many US nurses all over having issues but you may get a better idea reading either the general nursing discussion forum or the individual state forums

thx alot silverdragon
