I am currently a student at SCSU as a psych major and I just applied to St. Vincent's college for the upcoming spring semester. I am extremely concerned as to if I am going to get in. My current GPA is a sad 2.68 (I am not proud of this at all) I screwed up my first semester and I am now paying for it!
I was just wondering if anyone has gotten accepted with a GPA below a 3.0 I am really nervous, this is the ONE school I want to go to more than anything. I don't want to resort to lincoln tech
I took my placement test this past tuesday and I think i did very well they said I should be receiving a letter in the mail within 2 weeks!! my anxiety is building

The website I noticed is kind of vague as to what needs to be turned in for the application. I filled out and submitted my application today. I already have a bachelors degree from another school. I'm assuming I need to send in my transcripts? or should I wait to receive some sort of letter from them?
You need to send in the application and the app fee. You also need to have your transcripts sent from all colleges you've attended. Don't wait on getting the transcripts sent. Your app won't be considered complete and therefore won't be taken to the Admissions committee until ALL required things are there.
Sadly, you can only transfer 18 credits toward the nursing program. However, if you decide to go on and get your RN to BSN, you can transfer in more.
I GOT IN !!!! I was accepting in to the pre nursing program :) I was originally supposed to start in the spring, but thanks to Southern not reimbursing my financial aid i can't start until the fall, but oh well. I am just too happy :anpom:

Thank you!!! And to make it even better since I have to stay at scsu for another semester I am able to take classes that are transferable so I can start nursing immediately. I am super excited!!
Hi I was wondering if someone could help me.. I recently submitted an application to St vincents nursing program and are going to have my high school and current University send in my transcripts. Are there any other admission requirements I need.. such as letters of recommendation, essay, or TEAS test results? And I currently have a 3.2 GPA about to graduate with a bachelors in public health this may and I have roughly all Bs and Cs in my Bios and Chems. Do these seem like average stats that have the chances of being accepted to the program?
Unless they have changed the process all you need to do is fill out the app, have your transcripts sent to them (high school and all colleges you have taken classes at), general bio and chem must have been taken within 5 years of applying and a minimum grade of C+ in both.
St V's has two ways one can get into the nursing program. 1) Direct entry after being accepted. 2) The pre-major program. For more info on the pre-major program go the www.stvincentscollege.edu website, on the left side click , then , on page 5 it gives the information on the pre-major program.
It does state that if an applicant does not meet admission criteria they maybe considered for the pre-major program. I know people who have applied directly from high school who not only met but far exceeded the requirements who were not admitted directly into the program, I also know those who have been out of high school for a while who met and exceeded the requirements for their situation who were not admitted directly into the nursing program. Everyone I know had been accepted into the pre-major. I've yet to meet a direct admission student. I think thats because so many pre-major program people met the requirements and were admitted to the nursing program over new applicants. That's just my theory.
If you can, I'd suggest attending one of their information sessions. They are usually held monthly. The next one is Feb 2nd. There is one at 11am and one at 6pm, the next one after that is Feb 16, also 11am and 6pm.
