How do you learn it all?

So I'll be starting school in September for Family Nurse Practitioner, and just a question to all those that have completed school and are currently practicing ... I am not worried about being able to learn all of the information needed to become a NP, but HOW DO YOU RETAIN it all? --- I'm the type of person where if I don't use it, I lose it.

and various others.

Helped me drastically. Sadly I didn't start using them till my last semester of np school. Makes work so much easier also. These types of memory techniques aren't very popular in america... probably one of the many reasons we are falling behind in the world. Call me crazy but..

So you are saying this has literally worked for you?

Of course lol. Just takes a little time up front

You don't remember it all. School is meant to make you a safe beginner practitioner. Thereafter you learn on the job, and learn a lot more in your specialty and forget a whole bunch in other specialties :)

You won't retain it all. As another said, school gives you a foundation and, at least theoretically, points you in the direction of a safe practice. An old doctor told me, and I love to share this, "You learn on the job. The rest becomes **** that's just nice to know."
