How do you know this is what you want to do?

I'm going into my second year of nursing school, and i'm finding it to be a very difficult time. I'm very seriously considering dropping out. I was just wondering why some of you chose nursing as a career path, and how you knew to stick with it, even though it was difficult?

Second in ASN or BSN?

I chose not to quit because I have a talent for the field.

The job market is relatively stable, the pay is pretty good, there's room for advancement, and lots of educational opportunities. Seems like a good deal all the way around.

Honestly? I loved (and still do) telling people what to do. :sarcastic: It's hard to do it very well unless you have the expertise needed to come to the right conclusions. As a nurse, this is never a problem. I'm not saying that people always DO what I tell 'em... just that I like doing it. My family is dreading the time when I eventually retire - and focus all my efforts on them.

I'd only done office work prior to nursing school, and I HATE HATE HATED it. I wanted the polar opposite - to not be sitting at a desk all day shuffling papers while rarely interacting with other people.
