How do you know if you've been reported?

Published

I see so many people on here talking about the BON and hearing that they've been reported by their employer, etc. I'm in my states monitoring program and have been for the past year and I still have a little over a year left (I'm pregnant so apparently I'll be getting extended by 3 months while I'm out on maternity leave, which is absolute BS considering they'll continue testing me anyway). Anyway, I've never been contacted by the BON or The office of professional discipline to let me know I'm being investigated, etc. so I'm really curious if my job ever actually reported me? I just entered my states monitoring program because that's what I was told to do by my job (I still work at the same place). My issue wasn't diversion, it was alcohol. I have no AUD, was just hungover. Mistake on my part, I know. I just want to know how I would find out if I ever was reported.

@Healer555 I do not have SUD and I was not taking controlled substances.

Someone reported you for being impaired and you weren't taking anything? Did they test you at the time? The bad and sad for you is that a hair or nail test can prove your innocence for drugs but not alcohol.  You may or may not get a monitoring agreement. Hope you don't

@Healer555 neg Uds and neg bac at time of "incident"

That bodes well for you that they tested you..common sense would say you'll be fine but these people ....

This may be the time a lawyer would help if needed

@Healer555 I have absolutely no way of being able to afford a lawyer so wish me luck. I'm devastated.

It took 18 months for the BNE to notify me that I had been reported.  Luckily I had self reported and had 18 months of monitoring under my belt on a 5 year contract by the time they got around to me.

Hi sorry I don't mean to keep bothering you (I know you responded to my other post). But, what do you mean by a hair/nail test can't prove innocence for alcohol? It does test for alcohol though right?

It does but... it's not reliable as far as I know.   I know someone whose ex reported them for alcohol use disorder and the person never ever used alcohol.  They got 2 years.

OK - thank you for your response!

Post more details and we can be more helpful.  Or message

I tried to private message you, but my Reddit account isn't letting me. I'm not sure why. I don't want to post publicly to preserve anonymity. Would you be able to PM me?

Thank you!
