How do know when you're ready....

Published

I don't know if this has already been a thread. If so, can some please send me the link, and if not...how do you know when your studying for the nclex has been effective? I've heard people say that when you start getting more right than wrong, then it's time for you to take the test. Has anybody else heard anything else. :coollook: I've been studying, and I feel like I'm ready, but what if I'm not:uhoh21: .

Hi All,

I also am trying to figure out if I'll be "ready". I want to take it soon, and I graduated in December. I feel like the sooner or better but I also feel like I'm running out of time. I have mine scheduled for less than 2 weeks from now.

I thought about rescheduling but cannot get another appt for a few weeks so I want to stick with what I have.

Any suggestions? How much did u all study the week before u took the test?

Thanks,

I just found out I passed today (I tested on Thurs.) and like you I thought about rescheduling. I found Kaplan's NCLEX-RN Exam the most helpful. The chapter on therapeutic communication was insightful.

Congrats Deb! I take my test in 17 days!!

Congrats to you on passing!!! :)

You aren't ever going to feel like you are ready. Register for a test date and start studying. As soon as I was cleared to register I took the first available date, which was two weeks out. I think this worked out well for me.

DO NOT study AT ALL the day before the test. DO NOT even THINK about taking any review books in the car with you when you leave the house to drive to the test site.

Good Luck to you all:)

Let me just tell you this...I know how you feel. I just took my test on Tuesday with 130 questions, totally sure I failed, but didn't. I read over notes and did some practice quesitons. The truth is NOTHING WILL PREPARE YOU COMPLETELY for this test. Just go in there with your knowledge. YOU made it through nursing school, and that says a lot....remember your ABC's, Maslows, and always assess before anything else...this is how I made it..

And as for knowing when you're ready..I wasn't. That test was sooooo hard. I'm not saying this to discourage you, but it's the truth..however, just to what I said above, and be sure to think positive.

Good luck to you future RN

Thank you so much Jenn!

I really need that encouragement right about now! I caught a cold this week (just my luck) and now it's too late to change the date. I've been studying Kaplan so I feel pretty good about that. I'm just going to go in and take it. Will keep everybody posted.

You're welcome! A cold won't stop you from being a nurse. Just stay focused. YOU KNOW THIS!!!!
