How do know when you're ready....

I don't know if this has already been a thread. If so, can some please send me the link, and if not...how do you know when your studying for the nclex has been effective? I've heard people say that when you start getting more right than wrong, then it's time for you to take the test. Has anybody else heard anything else. :coollook: I've been studying, and I feel like I'm ready, but what if I'm not:uhoh21: .

i hear u......except i'm only scoring around 60-70% of my practice exams and i'm not sure this is a good sign or not......60-70% seems rather low to be able to pass the NCLEX.......what are other people's experiences before taking their exam?

:uhoh3: Well, when I took a pretest, I scored an 85%, but I'm not sure on how to interpret that either. During our last semester, we took the ATI RN assessment, and I scored about the national average. I don't know how reliable that test is. Did anybody else have to take the ATI RN assessment? What did you hear about it? Anyway, my strategy is this (don't know if it's going to work though): If I study 60 questions at a time, and practice getting more of those right than wrong, then I have a better chance of the test cutting off at 75 since there are 15 experimental questions. I'm just practicing ques. and reading saunder's & kaplan. Good Luck!

Hi All,

I also am trying to figure out if I'll be "ready". I want to take it soon, and I graduated in December. I feel like the sooner or better but I also feel like I'm running out of time. I have mine scheduled for less than 2 weeks from now.

I thought about rescheduling but cannot get another appt for a few weeks so I want to stick with what I have.

Any suggestions? How much did u all study the week before u took the test?

Thanks,

I scored the same as you consistently and I passed the first time.

Ahhh, HERE is this thread. I was scoring in the 60%-70% range on the sample tests. Our school did the Mosby faux test and I got "94% probability of passing" on that one. But all the online and at home tests I wasn't doing so hot - even though I knew that I knew my stuff... so I just went ahead and took it. Just found out I passed. I had 75 questions and walked out KNOWING I had passed. It was a lot easier for me than I'd anticipated. But I'm kinda freaky like that. Best of luck to you!

I just attended a Kaplan review and the instructor told us that if you are scoring anywhere between 50-60% on the cd questions, you should have no problem taking boards. She stressed that b/t 50-60 is good.

Good luck to all fixing to take boards. I take mine Tues.

you got the right idea. All NCLEX is is getting more right than wrong!

Good Luck

I am taking the Nclex-PN on this comming Thursday...It has been a VERY long time since school (not to vent but our lovely program totally screwed up or information for State boards)....I have been studying Saunders-as Kaplan doesnt offer anything for the PN...I feel that I am doing awful, I keep getting 50-60% of the questions right, I feel I need to just go back to school and that I cannot move ahead...In school I got straight A's and B's and now I cannot even tell you what Guillain-Barre's Syndrome is...HELP! I just need something, I have tried studying, then the tests over and over, it is like I have forgotten it all.......

I also didn't study overly for the NCLEX, I consistantly scored in the 60's on the practice tests. I walked out of the test knowing I passed at 75. I did not think it was too difficult. I was NOT an A student, some semesters I truly struggled but have to say there was nothing on the test I hadn't seen before.

I swear I think 80% of the test is mental. Stay calm and really, what is the worse thing that will happen if you fail? So you take it again, no biggie.

Easy for me to say in retrospect I know, but try not to let it freak you out.

It's just a test.
