Hi, I've been an RN for 3 years now in long term care, I want to transition to acute care but it's so hard to even land a job interview, what can I do that will improve my chances of getting hired?

2) Im planning on taking ACLS.then what? what else I can take to make em hire me?

Can someone also beta my resume? please pm me.

ACLS will help. Also, on your resume, put any acute care type things that you see at your LTC at the top. Do you do PICC line care? Trachs and vents? IV infusions? Those should all be at the top.

Are there any agencies in the area that do per diem work in your local hospital? If there are, try applying with them to get in the door. You'll gather some acute care experience without having to compete for the acute care positions that everyone covets so dearly. Also, try more rural hospitals if you're in the city. If you've got a smaller community hospital a half hour away, it might be easier to get your feet wet there than trying to jump into the big city pond.

Good luck!
