Hey everyone! Hope all is having a great weekend.
A little background on me, I live in the Bay Area, CA (San Francisco area) and I'm sure most if not all of you know how competitive it is in California (one of my local CSU's acceptance statistics is 80 out of 800 applicants getting in), and was wondering if anyone can give any feedback on how I'm doing as a prospective future nursing student.
I'm currently taking classes at my local community college and have been doing fairly well grades-wise and have been upping my extra-curricular activities heavily.
Extra-Curriculars:
1.) Volunteer at a Surgery Center (in which nurses have praised me heavily for my prescence and even offered great letters of recommendation).
2.) Volunteer at an Emergency Department.
3.) Student Senator at the Associated Student Council at my school.
4.) Have been serving the community since high school. Was in Peer Resources for 2 years of high school for the school as well as the service commission, both ensuring the wellness of the student body through many means.
Grades:
A in Microbiology
A in Anatomy (so far in the semester, expecting to come out with an A if I keep it up)
B in Medical Chemistry
(?) Physiology is pending, but I've heard it's extremely hard so this one is a toss up.
Current transfer GPA 3.8. Granted that I get a 4.0 this semester, I should be at 3.88.
Does anyone have any feedback or input? Anything is appreciated! Kind words, suggestions, experiences?
I should be applying for nursing schools by the end of this year in hopes of getting in fall of 2018. I did not want to begin applying for spring of 2018 because not all schools do spring admission, plus, I'd want to be able to have time to study for the TEAS exam that must be taken before gaining admittance into a program.
I try my best to stay strong but it can be hard at times, especially when my mind begins to discourage and/or scare me about my capabilities. Sometimes I feel like my accomplishments aren't going to get me anywhere, but I have to remind myself to stay positive and keep my head up!
I'm glad to be in these forums and in the same path that you all have gone through or are yet to go through! Good luck!

I would say you are doing a pretty good job. My only advice is to focus more on your grades and try to get straight A's from this point forward.
