How do I negotiate this?? On call

I have an opportunity for my first ARNP job to work with a great physician who I have known for about 5-6 years in a speciality setting. He is willing to put in the time and effort to really train me. I am having issues though with the hours and what is right. It would be M-F typical, however, once per month he has to "take call." But that basically means he is rounding in the hospital (4 hospitals) seeing patients for other doctors. He needs help with this obviously. However, that would mean I'd be working 12 days in a row! I'm not making anything extra on top of my salary for this. When I asked about getting 1-2 days off during this week, he said he would have to think about it.

Am I being unreasonable? I have an almost 1 year old. He is a family guy, so you'd think he would be understanding?

How do you guys do this??

Yeah you need to negotiate for at least one day off during the week and preferably two.

When I would take call which involved going to the hospital from 0700-1900 Sat/Sun we would get one day off during the week for those two days. We also got an extra $500/weekend call.

Thank you! I feel better knowing I'm not asking for too much. I know I'm a new grad and this is his first experience with an NP, but I don't want to be worked to death.

I attempt to model my practice after physicians so I work the same schedule as they do and would ask him what he bills for the on call portion.
