Congratulations on graduating and landing your first job as an RN!
Moving states and juggling licenses can get complicated, but I'll break it down. Here's what you need to know:
(Note: New Hampshire is a compact state, but Massachusetts is not.)
Timing: You can apply for RN licensure by endorsement in Massachusetts as soon as you receive your RN license in New Hampshire. There is no mandatory waiting period.
Steps in summary:
Graduate, pass the NCLEX, apply for your RN license in New Hampshire, then apply for endorsement in Massachusetts.
I hope that clears up the process for you! It sounds like you've got a solid plan, which will be a couple of steps to get everything in place.
Best wishes,
Nurse Beth
Brief update: Massachusetts just joined the NLC, so in a year or so (as soon as the state finishes the implementation process) your NH RN Compact License will also be good in Massachusetts. Congrats to you on your new endeavor!

Hi Beth! Long time follower here. I'm an LPN, about to graduate with my RN. I am currently licensed as an LPN in MA, but I moved to NH before nursing school and want to license there. But, I want to still work for my current per diem agency in MA as well. I want to get my license in NH first (to work in a hospital--already got the job), but how would I look into transferring it to MA? Should I do a specific state first? I'm just so confused and want there to be next to no gap in employment with my agency when I graduate.
