How do I interpret my NET score?

lol.. can't offer advice, just compassion.. I'm in the same boat. I was pleased with the scoring portion that the school will take into account for admissions, but I'm still wondering about the rest of those numbers and what does it all REALLY mean??

The only parts that have bearing on your acceptance is the Math and Reading Comprehension sections. The other sections are informational and to help the school make sure they're putting you in a group that would best fit your needs. For the reading level, there are three: Frustration, Instructional and Independent. Instructional means that with the benefit of lectures, you can be expected to successfully read college level material.

Congratulations on getting such a great score! Do you realize that the average NET result is around 60-65%? What was your composite percentile (it will probably be on the bottom right hand part of the results page)?

PS - my testtaking skills result was 60%, which they considered "independent" so don't get scared by the 36% - it's not as low as it sounds.

On my reading comprehension, the actual score was a 90%, but it says, "Ranked in the 99 percentile at an Independent Reading Level". On testtaking, it was 40%, "ranked as having Instructional Testtaking Skills". The composite percentile on mine was a 99 with my composite percentage a 91.

Excellent! That means that only 1% of the testtakers did better than you.

You are getting in, that's for sure. Those scores are excellent! I was told you have to have a 50 percentile ranking AT LEAST. Mine was 82% You go girl!

Thanks.. and I would like to think that I'm in.. but, I have to get into the required A and P class this summer. It's the only prereq to the course, and I want to take it this summer so I can get into the LPN program for the fall. They won't let me preregister since I'm not a returning student, and I don't know what to do. I emailed the Vice Chancellor for Student Services yesterday, telling him my scores and such and how much I really want to be in this program, asking him if there is anything I can do to get a spot in the class. No word from him yet... just hoping.. praying ALOT! :)

Thanks for all of the responses. I have kind of settled down now. After speaking to a few people who have been accepted into the program, I have found that I was putting way too much emphasis on the personality part of the test.

Gosh Tree and Armickie, it seems we are in the same boat. I am anxiously awaiting my

letter. My fingers are crossed for both of you.

Maybe I missed it, but what semester are you trying to get into? I am hoping for Spring 05,

evening classes. If not, I'll be trying for Fall 05, day classes.

I'm looking at starting the fall semester of this year, actually. Our school does not use a "waiting list" so to speak. Each fall term, 20 students are selected for the program. If you don't make the cut, you start all over the next year. I took my NET at the first available testing date for the fall term and there were about 45 people taking the test at that time. From what I understand, before the last test is given, there will be approximately 200 people testing for 20 spots. Our school uses the NET as part of the selection process, but not all of it. We use a point system, and the twenty who end up with the most points get in. Right now, it is possible to have 100 pts... I have 98. I'm hoping that will be enough!

When the NET says I scored in the 98 percentile, is that 98 percentile of those who took the test at my school, or 98 percentile of all of those who have taken the test in the US?
