When I enrolled in school I had no idea what I specifically wanted to do in the nursing field so to be safe, I decided to just start off with an ADN and then use an RN-BSN program once I figured out what exactly I wanted to become.
After having ACL reconstructive surgery nearly a week ago, I decided that I wanted to become a nurse anesthetist!
Are there any CRNAs on here that can give me some pointers on schooling?
In other words, did you go to school all at once? or did you go for your BSN and then work for a while and then go back?
I'm also not exactly sure what I need to do to become a CRNA... could you walk me through the steps?

First, I'd look up the job description on a search engine, and not base a career decision on just the patient end of things

BSN then a minimum of one year in the icu. Although some schools accept ER experience as well.

There's a student nurse anesthetist forum as well as a CRNA forum here that could probably answer most of your questions. As for what you need to do, most schools require a BSN and two years of critical care experience, so it's not really possible to go straight through. If your own surgery is what got you interested in being a CRNA, you probably missed a lot of what they do. Find out if it's possible for you to spend a day shadowing a CRNA to see if it's really something you'd be interested in.

You need to do research. A good start would be googling it. For more in-depth info, you should keep out various schools' websites. It's takes a lot of motivated and work just to get into CRNA school, so start by doing a lot of research!!

Critical thinking and research are two important skills to have to become a CRNA...so I would suggest you try researching the different schools that have programs and their educational requirements, there should also be a breakdown of the programs. It would behoove you to do this yourself instead of just asking someone to do this for you. The information is readily available.
