  1. wait what does this all mean? because I'm starting my ADN now and im just trying to plan out my educational future.
  2. In what ways is your program different? and no, I haven't commented on taking an RN to MSN although I have considered it. The reason I chose BSN is because most hospitals near me are becoming magnet and are requiring nurses to have a BSN. Also, I am very interested in becoming a CRNA and apparently you need two years of experience with a BSN in order to get accepted into most CRNA programs so it would essentially be pointless to go RN to MSN.. at least from my understanding.
  3. Is anyone taking the online program at University of Illinois Chicago? I'm very interested in applying once I complete my ADN. However, I'm somewhat nervous because it's online. I'm super new to all of this and was wondering if someone could explain to me what an online program is like and possibly their personal experiences.
  4. oh okay, just what I thought. Do your professors ever post videos from their lectures or anything like that? or do you strictly end up using your books and the internet
  5. what exactly is an "online class"? Do you just have a list of assignments and deadlines and go from there?
  6. I'm looking for an RN to BSN program and many of them are online. I'm definitely considering it because it will allow me to get experience while still continuing my education. However, I am worried that I will not have the same educational experience as I would in an actual school setting. I would truly appreciate for people to post their online education experiences and whether or not you would recommend online education to others. What was your typical "school day"? Do you feel like you missed out on anything? Thank you for sharing your stories! :)
  7. i wonder if the fact that you're getting your degree online has anything to do with it.
  8. When I enrolled in school I had no idea what I specifically wanted to do in the nursing field so to be safe, I decided to just start off with an ADN and then use an RN-BSN program once I figured out what exactly I wanted to become. After having ACL reconstructive surgery nearly a week ago, I decided that I wanted to become a nurse anesthetist! Are there any CRNAs on here that can give me some pointers on schooling? In other words, did you go to school all at once? or did you go for your BSN and then work for a while and then go back? I'm also not exactly sure what I need to do to become a CRNA... could you walk me through the steps?
  9. xtxrn I remember you saying you have an ADN like I will have.. What job do you currently hold? and where? i.e: hospital.... etc. What does your job entail? I want to figure out what I would exactly like to do with my future once I obtain my degree.
  10. so i other words, if I complete my ADN I will be considered over qualified for a LPN position in most cases?
  11. Right, my goal is to get my ADN.. I have already started the process. However, there is a lot of rumor that the hospital I was planning to work at only hires BSN. So i was hoping to maybe work in a Dr.'s office part time while completing a RN-BSN program.. It's all really confusing to me and I'm just trying to map out my education in advance so that when I finally finish my ADN I know what to do next and I have an actual plan to follow.
  12. thank you so much! you're the nicest person that has helped me on here!
  13. SORRY!! I'm very new to this. and yes, I suppose I meant LPN. I was just wondering what I would need to do after my ADN to be able to work in a pediatric office doing things like taking vitals... etc. I'm not exactly sure what degree I would need for that.
