Hi guys. I am taking Psy 101 online because there is no other opening at my college that fits my schedule.(Two question) How hard is this class? and do you guys think this is best for me,since this is my very first online class?.In addition I am also taking Bio 109 on campus.
I started online Psy 101 yesterday. We have 3/4 attempts for each quiz/exam, and 2 attempts for the final. I thought I was seeing things when I read the syllubus?? There are only 7 chapters to cover in 16 weeks. It seems more interesting than Sociology so far? Multiple attempts at online open-book tests. How can I take my professor seriously?
Quite honestly talk to someone that took it online at YOUR school with the instructor you will.
Psy 101 is a pretty easy class. However it all comes down to the instructor and how they choose to handle the course. They could make it very easy, or very hard.
I did not take it online, but i did take my human growth and development online(psy108)and intro soc online(soc101). Both consisted of 5 tests, 80 ?s each, and 20 ? extra credit test that i didnt even need to take in the psych, need like 5 of them for the A in soc.
That was it......read the chapters, pay attention especially to the bold words and numarical statistics, and take the tests. If psy 101 was same way online it would be easy too.
However, a teacher could make it be a lot more work then that, include papers, projects, require bulliton board discussions. Depending on the additional work a teacher could make it a lot more difficult of a class. This is why you should try to talk to someone that took it at your school with the instructor that you will, find out what their course is like......maybe it is easy and straight forward.....maybe its more indepth....maybe it includes a bunch of busy work.
And in general, online classes ARE more work then in person classes.......you HAVE to read the text more in depth, and YOU have to teach yourself the material. quite honestly, taking intro in person I never even read the book after the first chapter. My teacher taught us the material well, and being in class paying attention and taking notes was all i needed to do for the course. Looking back over the notes for a few key points was all i had to do at test time.
I am not trying to discourage you from taking online courses......I did take half of my prereqs online. You just can not expect it to be less time then real class.
