How hard is your nursing school?

Okay, my school is not easy at all! It's so hard!

In my program, you need a 77% to get a C. Anything below that is a D and if you fail 1 class, you cant move on to the next semester until you pass. BUT, you can only fail 2 times during the whole program.

Its really heart breaking when I study really hard, give all my time and dedication to studying for the classes, going that extra mile to get the highest grade I could get, even have sleepless nights of studying, only to find out that my final grade is even below mediocrity! All of that, I did, and my final grade turns out to be a C. I am just melancholic, and disappointed and majorly sad. My GPA went from an A to B- since starting the nursing program. I dont think C describes the things I went through. I hate this letter grade system.

its so complicated. It's making me depressed.

in my program, 77-84 = C, 85-94 = B, 95-100 = A. no plus or minus.

We also have that proctored tests like the ATI at end of semesters and theyre usually hard to have a good score in, but its worth a lot of grades so we have to pass definitely. from spring semester, our class got cut down by 15 people, who didnt make it, and most of them were even at the borderline of passing, and it sucks.

I seriously have tried many types of study methods, and I dont know if I'm doing something wrong consistently, or maybe I'm just dumb and I just cant get above the barely passed status in nursing school ever, even at least get a 91-100% in 1 quiz. I guess Im at a limit or something,

^ Ditto. I do my best and score in the B, B+ range. Always a bridesmaid, I suppose. The Select Alls just kill me, and I'm always selecting 1 more or 1 less than the correct answers.

yeah depends on your schools reputation it will be hard. Nowadays it keeps getting harder just to graduate. we take a med calculation every semester and need to get 100 percent but we get three chances if not we can't move on, have to take a hesi after each semester. Our last semester we need to take the exit hesi but have 2 chances to pass it. This HESI exam will be the end of me pretty pointless testing that makes you feel comfortable to pass NCLEX. Feels more of a money making exam to me. anyways just need to suck it up and get through it somehow and someway, grades are whatever as long as you pass and know you material in the real setting then your good

For starters, I would never recommend all night study sessions. When you are totally exhausted, you are just not going to retain the material and think as critically as you might otherwise. Also, have you tried reading over your notes, not the day before the test, but EVERY day? This keeps the information fresh in your mind. Do your textbooks have any online helps? Our school uses Elsevier books and they have places on their website where you may get additional case studies and NCLEX style questions. Hope these suggestions help.
