Hi, everyone. I just have a quick question. I graduated LPN school July 08. I have been working in a clinic locally but recently quit(for several reasons). I want to work in a hospital setting to keep my nursing skills but there are no positions locally and I am also planning to become a RN in the near future. Sorry it is taking so long to get to my question but what I need to know is how hard is it to get licensed when Louisiana is not one of the compact states I am licensed in. I would really like to work maybe in slidell, hammond, or the metarie area. I will work any shift but I prefer night shift and working just weekends being that I have kids and it would be much easier on my family. (I will pretty much take anything to begin with just to get my foot in the door.
SORRY SO LONG BUT ANY REPLIES WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED !!!!

I am originally licensed in TX. While living in LA, I applied for a license by endorsement. I got a temporary work permit (license) in about 4 weeks and I believe my permanent license came in 90 days.
Call the BON there in LA. They will tell you everything you need to do. Basically the same thing you probably just did to get your MISS license. FBI background check, transcripts, etc.
Hope this helps.

I'm currently applying for a RN license by endorsement, and it's taken over eight weeks so far. The LA BON claim to not receive my nursing school's transcript, so I had to request for it be sent again, which will probably delay my license further. When I got endorsed by other states, it took less than six weeks. LA's initial license is more expensive than most other states on top of that. LA BON sucks!

The LSBPNE is awesome everyone I've ever dealt with there is super nice. I also recently got my LA license and I had all my paper work in order so I was able to get to get my license fairly quickly. I would got to there website www.lsbpne.com and check fo endorsement requirements...the thing that takes the longest is the FBI background check about 2 weeks for me. And you nursing school transcript. Other than that you should be good to go!! GOOD LUCK!!
