Sorry to be so very rude. Forum topics obviously serve no purpose, so post whatever, wherever you'd like in the future. Nursing Humor would be another great wealth of information on becoming a CRNA.

Since you are in your first year of nursing school, right now the most important thing is focusing on your current classes. Try to really study and understand the information and keep your grades high so that you'll be competitive come application time. You could start shadowing people in that profession to make sure this is really what you want to do. My focus changed multiple times when I was in school as I realized that some things I thought I'd be perfect at would have made me miserable in the long run. Perhaps get a job as a PCA in an ICU to make sure you really like the icu environment and to possibly get you an 'in' after graduation. The other things such as GRE, certifications, work experience, etc. you really can't do anything about until after you are graduated. The most important bit of all this for you right now is what I first said. If you search these posts a huge source of anxiety comes at application time seems to be gpa, its very difficult and time consuming to pull it up after you have graduated. Good luck with school!

I have high aspirations too. You sound like me- I'm a current nursing student, but I am trying to "plan" for the next 10 years of getting my master's. I have a love/hate relationship with school, but get excited thinking of all the places I can go with it! I will bet you are going to research it to death...and want to know allll about it within the next three weeks.

You did come across cranky. But, over half the communication was missed since nobody could hear or see you, so maybe you weren't.

Not everyone has these message boards "mastered."

Okay so yesterday was the day that I decided that I wanted to shoot for the goal of being a CRNA. However, because it was just yesterday that I decided on this, I have no clue to go about it, lol. I kno I need to get my MSN...but then what after that??....Currently, Im a freshmen nursing student with some high aspirations, lol...

Work on completing your Bachelors Degree first and foremost. Try to keep your grades high, as it is a very competitive field to get into. When you have your RN License you will need to work in ICU-Surgical/Medical and get at least one year experience. Even working as a tech in the ICU while going to school is great option and suggestion by one of the other posts. Also shadow a CRNA and make sure this is what you really want to do. Then prepare for the GRE's and apply to your schools of choice that have the Master's Program in CRNA. I hope this helps. I have applied for Fall 07 and University Of Maryland and Georgetown and waiting for their response, but have to wait for Oct. 1 for one and Nov. 15 for the other.
