How to get rid of BAD BREATH

Published

This is embarrassing for me to ask but I have really bad breath but don't know how to get rid of it. I do the routine stuff: seeing a dentist twice a year, brushing 3-4 times a day (after all meals), flossing, and tongue cleaning... I've told my dentist and he suggested over the counter products which have not worked. It's getting so bad that I'm embarrassed to talk to my patients. What should I do??? Thanks.

Have you actually seen a Periodontist to be evaluated for periodontal disease? Many regular dentists just are not always quick to truly evaluate for this. My crazy x is a dentist and he would get new patients with bad periodontal disease that had been seeing their regular dentist twice a year for years. They were just never formally diagnosed with the disease and referred for treatment......

Do you still have your tonsils? Since your oral hygiene is in par, your halitosis could be caused from tonsilloliths or tonsil stones. Open your mouth and look at your tonsils. If there is a white substance sticking out of your tonsil that is a tonsil stone. Sometimes you can't see the stone, but you will know that there are there because every time your swallow it's like swallowing something ugly. The stones have an obnoxious smell can only be compared to necrotizing flesh. No amount of teeth or tongue brushing will get rid of the odor without actually getting rid of the tonsil stone.

:icon_roll Not only do I brush my teeth, I brush my tongue then scrape it, and I also brush the roof of my mouth. It is amazing what I see fall into the sink.

I don't know how that dude was able to remove that stone like that without gagging. I was getting tonsil stones frequently a few months back, and I tried scraping at it just like that YouTuber, and I had no luck. I was finally able to get rid of it, and it was the foulest thing I have ever encountered. :barf01:

Probably u got a more serious illness because theres nothing to do with ur oral hygiene as u have mentioned u comply with all of the said dental check-ups. Try to see ur medical doctor for a routine check.

I agree the tonsil stone smell is foul--a combination between dog doo and vomit. The look and smell of them makes you want to gag. In regards to the gagging during removal, the news the other day mentioned that the dentist should have equipment to remove the tonsilloliths and the $1000+ procedure is covered by insurance;).
