How to get Licensure in the USA?

Published

Hi everyone. I would like to ask help if what are the steps or what should I do inorder to get the NCLEX exam. I am planning to take the NCLEX exam but I don't know what are thr requirements needed and where to apply. I need someone to give me some tips. It keeps on bothering me and I can't really sleep well because I really want to take the NCLEX exam.

Thank you in advance:wink2: and hope you'll help me

Where are you? Have you completed a nursing program if so which one? You need to apply to a BON/BRN before permission is granted. Remember you are not applying for NCLEX but licensure to e RN or PN depending on training. NCLEX is just part of that process

I am a graduate of BSN here in the Philippines. So you mean I would first apply to the BON? What are the requirements needed when I go there? So that I can bring it along with me.

Thank you so much for the help. I really appreciate it.:wink2:

Moving this to the International forum

Suggest you read up on threads regarding retrogression and also the sticky called Primer to working in the USA. There is much to read and you will be affected by retrogression. You have a long process and wait ahead of you, may want to consider if not taken already NLE and look to another country and gain nursing experience.

There is nothing for you to bring with you, the required documents need to be submitted by your school of nursing as well as licensure documentation directly from the PRC.

Not sure when you graduated, but more and more states are requiring the NLE be taken and passed first before they will permit you to sit for the NCLEX exam.

Suggest that you read the Primer at the top of this page, things are not as simple as just writing the NCLEX exam, that is only a small step in the process. And passing of the exam does not give you permission to work in the US, that requires a specific visa to do so.

OK thank you so much for the suggestions. Actually it was my bf in canada who force me a lot to get that exam. Again thank you so much:wink2:

And the NCLEX exam is only for the US, it will do nothing for working in Canada.

You are also under a retrogression for the US, so an expected wait of about five years plus for a chance at a visa.

Please take the time to do some reading here, and inform your boyfriend of what is actually happening now.

Best of luck to you.

Since there is the Primer at the top of this forum with all of the requirements for licensure in the US, this thread is going to be closed.
