Hello, I had graduate last year as a cna and pass the state exam. I'm new in a medical field and I want to work in a hospital, But someone to told it best start at in a nursing home but, I don't want work in the nursing home due to clinical experience how they treat their resident. I put in some application in for a couple hospitals. I just wondering how long does it to get a respond back? Do you have to experience just to get the job in hospital? Can I call and ask about the position? if so, how? I keep praying and praying and ask the Lord about this position that I want. I know he will answer my prayer.
And many hospitals , at least in my area, require experience. But, please take your real name out of your post. It's not good to have that as anything you say in the future can be associated right back to you, good or bad .

Yes please do that !!
I actually work for a staffing agency that staffs a majority of hospitals in my local area. Prior to working for the agency I was a CNA in Rehabs/LTC for 4 years and was always applying to hospitals and NEVER got a call back for any of the positions that I ever applied for ! Then about 8 months ago I met a woman who told me about the agency she worked for all of the hospitals they staffed and I have been working the hospital since and some rehabs. Find a good nursing home to work for and get your experience, then apply for both hospitals and agencies that staff those hospitals. Honestly, it's way easier to got on with a hospital through a staffing agency than it is just solely applying for the institution itself. In my area at least, you usually have to know someone to get your foot in the door, its that competitive. For all of the applications I put in to hospitals, the message that I received verifying that my application was sent usually had a disclaimer to not contact HR regarding application status. You will usually get an email from HR within a month saying that you have not been selected for this position. The people I have talked with who did get hired on directly with the hospital said they usually got a call back within 1-2 weeks for the initial interview which is usually by phone (there is a total of 3 interviews for most hospitals). If you are selected for the position, its usually around 5 weeks from the initial time you send in the application to the 3rd interview. Hope this helps :)
Long term care experience is almost an absolute and absolutely essential to getting a hospital job. Not all LTC facilities treat their residents poorly. Do some research about facilities in your area. All the brand new CNAs my hospital have hired lack the necessary skills like prioritization, accuracy, and efficiency which can be learned easily in LTC.
