hello everyone, I am new to this site but I find it very interesting.

I am a nursing student in north Ga. I am so happy to find out that there is such a thing as forensic nursing. Does anyone know what education level one must have to be a forensic nurse, other than a RN. Such as a BSN or a MSN? If anyone has any information I would be very greatful if they shared it with me. Thank You. :coollook:

Hi, My name is Alicia! I'm 17 and graduating in a year and a half from high school! I'm considering Forensic Chemistry and then Forensic Science! I'm not to sure on what to do! I've contempleted the idea of being an ob gyn nurse for a while now! I love kids and figured that would be a good field to go into! I'm so confused on what to do! I'll be the only one to go to college in my family therefore, my family has not a clue how to deal with anything and they don't understand! I was hoping that one of you or all of you could help me out! It would mean a great deal to me if you could just maybe suggest something or give me information! I just don't know what to do

My daughter also will be graduating next year and plans on getting her Forensic Chem or Bio degree in Forensics. I pulled up all the colleges offering Forensic Degrees and emailed them for information packages and college applications. Their websites have tons of info on tuition, housing, etc. and how to get started. Now is the time to get started. Deadlines for alot of colleges are in the fall. Good luck.

I am a nursing student in Ohio. I have been researching forensic nursing to try to find out where to go & what the qualifications are to get the degree, too. I have found online classes & finally a Masters program at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. Now I am just trying to figure out if I could get my Associates RN & then Bachelor's in Criminology & still get to Masters in forensic nursing. Not really sure what my best plan of action would be. Based off of what I have found, the Forensic nursing program is a Master's degree program. Hope this helps!

Hey Everyone!

My name is Ilia and I'm 17 and am going to be Senior in High School. I know I'm a little "young" to probably be here but I figured that I need help so I should go to the "EXPERTS". I live in Florida and I'm VERY interested in becoming a Forensic Nurse. I wanted to be a Crime Scene Investigator when I first saw the show CSI (kinda silly), but when I started taking Health Science 1 and Medical Terminology (Dual Enrollment) this past year I realized that I wanted to go into nursing. So I decided that I could go for an occupation that I can do two things that I want to do in my life, that's when I came across Forensic Nursing. I want to help people but then thing is I want to go to a 4 year university right when I graduate but in order to do that, I have to already have B.S. Degree and I can get my A.S. Degree next year while I'm a senior. What can I do to help myself "jump the gun?"

You are doing the right thing researching early, most high school students wait until last minute.

I am interested in doing forensic nursing also, so i payed a visit to http://www.forensicnursing.com. They offer a wide variety of information on this subject. I read that you can have only an associate's degree and still receive your SANE certification. Good luck with it. :p

The American College of Forensic Examiners certifies Forensic Nurses. They put on great conferences and have quality programs. You can check it out at http://www.acfei.com. Definitely worth looking into.

Try also volunteer for your local police department. Also some police department have something like a Citizen Academy for the public that usually last anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks and you learn everything about the police department (also good way to network).
