I originally obtained my RN Lic. in Georgia. I got married, moved to Fl and let it expire for > 7 years. I am recently divorced and would like my RN back. I cannot do a re-entry program in Ga because I have children at home in Fl. Any ideas?

In which state do you plan to become licensed?
Check the BON website for that state to determine the requirements for obtaining an active license. They may vary from as little as paying a fee to as extensive as completing a refresher course.
Good luck!

Thanks. I need a FL. lic. and have never had an active lic in Fl. My lic. was in Georgia. I get mixed messages when calling about this issue. Some say I have to go to GA, take a refresher course in GA. Get my GA. Lic active Then apply for reciprocity in Florida. I can not go to Ga for a refresher course because of my young children. I am just plain confused! Any Ideas?
Did you call the FL BON? I know there are ways to resurrect an license from another state in ours, just not sure how it's done
If you have no intention of practicing in GA, you don't need a GA license.
Contact the FL BON to learn their requirements for licensure. If they require a refresher course, take one in FL.
Problem solved.

@ RLT.....I am in the same boat as you. I had a GA licence. I let it lapse, due to retirement. I thought I could pay a late fee. My FL license is null and void. I must do a refresher course in GA, because I am retired and have not worked in 3 yrs!!! I live in FL now. I can't go back to GA for 2 months for that. Refresher courses here in FL are so far away from where in live, ( i live in Pensacola). There only about 4 in the entire state. I feel i just want to take the NCLEX all over again and be through with it. I think its awful that the FL BON does not make it easier to get a FL license reinstated easier....
