One thing I've noticed about my new job is all the back-stabbing. It makes me sick - I guess it's that there are so many more employees than there were at the old place.
I'm the new guy, and I only work part-time, but I DO NOT want to listen to this. I'm an old RN, and it seems like I follow this young LPN a lot - she's new, this is her first job, and she always has a lot of questions for me - which is OK, because I like to teach, and she seems eager to learn. I've not noticed that she's done anything wrong, either.
This morning when I was reporting off to one of the old LPN's, she wanted to snipe and stab about everything this young gal does. Well, I could feel my vinegar face coming on, so I shut up and got out of there.
Later, I felt like I shouldl have said something about remembering what it was like to be just out of school, etc. I don't know - but why do people have to be so hateful?!!

I could never understand why on earth when we work in such a hostile atmosphere we make it worse for ourselves. Is it because we are so unhappy in our jobs that we become hateful? It is so sad to see this type of behavior continue, especially with us older nurses, who do know how hard it was starting out. I wish I knew the answer to your question, ahh if wishes were pennies.....
