So how many were hired or will be hired with the help of family members, relatives and/or family friends? How reliable is it?

A friend of my mom works in the HR of a hospital in the USA and supposedly, they can start to petition me after I pass the NCLEX. I also have lots of classmates and friends that were promised employment by their relatives in the USA. Retrogression aside, even if our contacts have a high position in a hospital or work in the HR itself I'm curious if it's a guarantee of eventual employment. Is it really that "easy" to just petition someone and isn't it nepotism to an extent? What if the hospital isn't hiring at the moment or want to hire US-trained nurses first?

It does not matter who knows who, the hospital does not give out visas, that is done by the US government and we do not have visas at this time so everyone and everything is on hold once the I-140 gets approved.

If the hospital is not hiring, then they are not going to start the process for you.

And no one can hire you and start the process as soon as you pass the NCLEX exam, they cannot even offer a job to you legally until you have passed the exam. Then it is weeks before anything could possibly be ready to submit as well, it is much more than just a few pieces of paper that have to be submitted.

If management changes over in the next few years, there is no guarantee that they will have a job for you and many times we see contracts cancelled after the nurse has waited several years and then they start all over again.

This retrogression has been in effect since October, 2006 and is only expected to get worse, not better. Much also has to depend on the country of birth.

i had mine in 2006 i contacted a hospital in north carolina and i was lucky they petition me.
