How could a completely inexperienced person become a nurse tech?

Nurses General Nursing

I am a freshman in college. No clinical experience at all. I read that nurse techs do catheters and IVs, but i've never learned any of this as i'm not in my clinical phase yet. When the hospital I got a job for says they are going to train me, is it just going to be "showing me how to do something" once, or do i get to practice on models? or is it just showing me once and then giving me a list of patients to put tubes in?? i'm so nervous...though i'm sure working as this job after being trained will help me greatly in clinicals.

i'm a smart person...but i have no nursing experience. i dont want to pass this oppurtunity up. how will i ever reach the level of the other nurse techs there who are in their senior year of nursing school when i havent even begun yet??

dont get me wrong--i'm very excited about the job...but i want to give the best possible care and am afraid that the position is "over my head." what if i get fired for not doing something perfectly?? aaah, i just want to be perfect at the job and make my patients happy AND not be a hindrance to the nurses.

The place i got hired is a long term acute care hospital. they said they didnt want to make me a CNA because it would be a waste of my time and money, when i'm going to school to be an RN and could learn things that way.
