Yes...well..I mean, I found out about the job through someone who works there, and then the very NEXT day I had an interview set up. So it kind of fell upon my shoulders. I'm really lucky but just making sure that my impulsivity didn't get the best of me, lol.

I am a freshman in college. No clinical experience at all. I read that nurse techs do catheters and IVs, but i've never learned any of this as i'm not in my clinical phase yet. When the hospital I got a job for says they are going to train me, is it just going to be "showing me how to do something" once, or do i get to practice on models? or is it just showing me once and then giving me a list of patients to put tubes in?? i'm so nervous...though i'm sure working as this job after being trained will help me greatly in clinicals. i'm a smart person...but i have no nursing experience. i dont want to pass this oppurtunity up. how will i ever reach the level of the other nurse techs there who are in their senior year of nursing school when i havent even begun yet?? dont get me wrong--i'm very excited about the job...but i want to give the best possible care and am afraid that the position is "over my head." what if i get fired for not doing something perfectly?? aaah, i just want to be perfect at the job and make my patients happy AND not be a hindrance to the nurses. The place i got hired is a long term acute care hospital. they said they didnt want to make me a CNA because it would be a waste of my time and money, when i'm going to school to be an RN and could learn things that way.

Day, evening, or night? haha..as if you didn't know them.. and why you picked it. I'm starting my job in evening shift because I'm a night-owl and a student. But I can't exactly work nights and then get up in two hours for class :lol2:

Say 24 hours a week, which includes every other weekend. Do they tend to space it out or would you work...Mon, Tues, Wed...off Thurs through Sun.. or Is it always the same two-week cycle, just repeated (usually?) say...Mon, Sat, Sun....or Mon, Wed, Fri... OR is completely sporadic? Thanks, sorry if this is a dumb question!

Part time meaning, 3 days a week (every other weekend) evening shift. I don't know what to pick. I have 4 classes right now but this semester will be ending in about a month. And then for the summer I have one class once a week evening. And then the following fall, I have day classes three days a week. What schedule should I choose???

Hi, I say "nurse" but I'm not really a nurse.. I just got a job as a Nurse Tech at a rehabilitation hospital. I am 19 years old and have no clinical experience what-so-ever. The hospital is going to train me and said that working as a Tech would be better than a CNA considering I am going to be an RN eventually and then someday I could work as an RN for them. I know nothing regarding how to do things, and am getting a little nervous for my first day. I understand the duties involve CNA work and certain other procedures like foley catheter insertion, etc. So I'm not really asking about WHAT is involved. I am more interested in tips and things I should know. Best ways to learn things, study tips, things YOU wish you would have been told from your first day. ANY advice is greatly appreciated, really. :) Will I be able to succeed at school as well? I will be working 3 days a week, 3-11....

I am a freshman in college and am not trained to be a CNA yet. The place just hired me as a nurse tech, and they said that theyll train me and ill learn more than what a CNA will learn which will help me when I become an RN. Can anyone explain the differences between a CNA and a nurse tech? Will I be able to handle it?

I have NEVER had a part time job though other than an internship with elementary school kids so I don't know what to say when they ask. I am 19 and a freshman in college. I didnt work through high school because i was more focused on my studies. I plan on stressing that I care about the dignity and respect that older patients deserve, how I have wanted to be a nurse from hearing my mother's stories about it and visiting her at work, how I am precise and can overlook any type of unpleasant sights and smells that accompany maladies of residents in order to provide them with the best care. What should I literally say when they ask "What would your last employer say about me?" Should I say, "I've never had a job." or "I've never had a job but other people would tell me i am ...." Any other tips? Like what kinds of questions they will ask? I am so nervous! I really want this job! A good friend who has worked for the company knows me and has talked about me there, and she said the job is basically mine and they are waiting to post the job until they meet me. I dont want to mess this up! Thanks in advance. also should i bring a resume w/ no experience?
