How could a completely inexperienced person become a nurse tech?

Published

Hi, I am a freshman in college. No clinical experience at all! When the hospital I got a job for says they are going to train me, is it just going to be showing me how to do something? Or do i get to practice on models? I read that nurse techs do catheters and IVs, but i've never learned any of this as i'm not in my clinical phase yet. though i'm sure working as this job after being trained will help me greatly in clinicals.

i'm a smart person...but i have no nursing experience. i dont want to pass this oppurtunity up. how will i ever reach the level of the other nurse techs there who are in their senior year of nursing school when i havent even begun yet??

You must have believed you could do the job - you applied, right? ;)

You will gain invaluable experience, and training in certain procedures such as catheterization. Congratulations -- make the most of it! :)

Yes...well..I mean, I found out about the job through someone who works there, and then the very NEXT day I had an interview set up. So it kind of fell upon my shoulders. I'm really lucky but just making sure that my impulsivity didn't get the best of me, lol.
