What would you do, if a patient came to the nurses station and said they feel weak? The patient has a history of diabetes! I did a fingerstick BS was 140. They have a history of CVA! The vitals were 130/80 82 20. Would you do any other assessment? If so what?

I'd do a quick neuro check too.

They ambulated to the nurses' station to tell you they feel weak? And their VS and glucose are WNL? I'd assess how lonely they are or if they're looking for some attention!

i'd monitor and check vitals in around an hour.

You might also find out if the patient has been having bloody or tarry stools, as anemia can cause weakness - so can hypoxia - so a good listen to their lungs and an O2 sat wouldn't hurt.

I agree with the above posts. It could just be from their hospital stay. They arnt doing much except laying around. Could be and infection brewing... uti?

With a history of prior CVA, I would take them back to their room and do a full NIH assessment, alert my supervisor of stroke like symptoms if there were any deficits and then go from there. Repeat a full set of vitals along with a pulse oxim. check.....
