  1. They cant tax it because anyone can grow it in their back yard. Only reason its not legal.
  2. I hate that! OMG. It just makes everything more difficult. They should have a simple medication book. Not these stupid care plans for each pt. Just needed to vent. sorry
  3. IDK maybe!! But they think it's completely normal to have NO mars. You are supposed to get on this confusing computer system and print out 0100 med list and it has all the meds for the entire floor. Its soo screwed up.
  4. NO MAR! Its crazy. I just got a short 8 hour inservice on the comp. system. No inservice to the way things are done on the floor at all. But i guess thats because Im a traveler.
  5. Yea it is odd because the place I am working has many travelers, and they only hired one staff GN out of the last class. I don't understand it. It isnt my fault though. I just go were I'm needed. Another thing is this hospital has no MAR's( med. administration records) or a kardex, and no charge nurse. I've never worked in a place that didnt have these. Is this common??? Some things just seem so redundant. In report (which is taped) they want EVERY detail. It;s like a 20 min report on each pt. They want their assessment. Which is stupid. They should assess their own pts. Obviously if their assessment reveals wheezes I will give that in report.
  6. The new job that I am working at we have 9:1 at night. Its a med-surg floor.
  7. I have just started my first travel nurse assignment, and am having a really tough time. Im working nights which im not really used to and it seems that everyone hates me there:( Everything is ran completely different than any other hospital that I've ever worked in.. I keep hoping that it will get better, but IDK. I just need some support, suggestions, or anything. Thanks to everyone who reads...
  8. I've seen this many times to prevent withdrawl. Apparently its easier than prescribing librium
  9. Although I am aware of these addictions, we must remember that pain is subjective. For all we know these people ARE in excrutiating pain. I'm not willing to make someone suffer because I think or even pretty sure that they're an addict.
  10. I had what looked like a positive and turns out it was just a local reaction to the PPD. Wonder why the CXR would take that long. Call them, explain your situation and maybe they can read it sooner.. Good Luck! If it turns out to be positive it's not the end of your nursing career. TB is not always active. On the bright side you wont ever have to have a PPD again...

I would follow policy unless the abd. is distended or pt is complaining. 100cc is not much. I've pulled residual that is much greater. I would check later and if residual is greater I would notify the doc because it sounds like an absorption issue.
  12. Hello, seems like you know your stuff. MRSA is soo confusing to me. If a pt has an open wound with MRSA they are placed on isolation. If that very same pt comes in a yr later with something completely unrelated they are placed on precautions for History of MRSA even though the open wound has been closed for months. ??? Would love to hear your insight
  13. I think that is ridiculous. It definately happens but shouldn't everyday. I definately have days that I cannot even go the the BR. It's terrible. And usually if I swipe missed meal it doesn't even show up in my paycheck. I just love it when some ppl (mostly smokers, no offense) who work 8 hrs compared to my 12, take a half hour brkfst, half hour lunch and then a 2pm cig. break. I work from 11a-11p and sometimes I dont get a break at all until about 9pm when my pts are settling down and meds are mostly finished I can run down to get a soda. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE. Really really irritates me.
  14. hello! I have just accepted a traveling nurse position, and I will be starting next week working nights!!! Little nervous because one--this is my first assignment as a traveler and two--I've never worked nights... Any suggestions?? Any easier way to get used to this and how NOT to eat all night long?? lol. Thanks!
