How can nursing student get summertime position in a hospital???

what part of ohio will you be in?

you need to have a nursing assistant certification first.

i honestly don't know how to transfer certification from one state to another but i believe you need a g.e.d or high school diploma first.

after that when the hospital hires then you they train you with a mentor

as a stna in a hospital the duties vary you will learn alot which will help you in nursing school.

The hospitals around my area hire Nursing Students as an NAII after one year of nursing school. They get a better pay rate vs a CNA who is certified. The hospital is usually willing to work with your school schedule and sometimes will offer tuition reembersment if you plan to stay on when you pass boards. A CNA works under the RN/LPN and assists with the care of the Pts. Baths, VS, Acu checks, ambulation, commode, changing of bed linens, etc. It is a good way to gain experience and learn while getting paid. It's not an easy job and can be really challenging at times. Maybe you could contact the hospital your interested in and ask what their policies are for hiring nursing students. You should recieve an orientation upon hire which will expain what is expected of you at your new job.

hello all!
i'm not exactly sure which forum this question should go in, so i'm hoping that it is okay to post it in the general one!!
this is my 2 year of nursing school and i would really like to get more experience in the hospital setting during the summer. (which i know is a long time away, but i'm trying to get an idea now!) right now i'm a volunteer in the hospital and get to see/do minimal jobs.
i heard that becoming a cna or stna would be wonderful. but i don't have the slightest idea what either of those are, where i would get trained (i'll be in oh over the summer) or anything!!
help please!!

make an appointment with human rescources or someone in the nursing office. see if there are opportunities to shadow a nurse or work as a nurse tech. some hospitals have opportunities like this especially if you plan to work in that hospital after graduation. usually nurses aides have to be certified but i don't think classes for this take too long. you could do those classes during a school break and be up and ready by summer.

I am in my first year of nursing school and also looking for some summer experience. From what I've gathered, my options are to apply for a summer nurse internship (very competitive, slim chance I will get one..) or get a nursing assistant (sometimes called patient care assistant,PCA) job. The hospitals here will hire a student nurse as a nursing assistant if they have had a year of clinicals (so I wouldn't have to get certified or take the class/test). So, those are the options I am looking at.

When I was in nursing school I worked my Junior and senior year as a nurse extern in my local hospital. You were required to work 24 hours every two weeks but could also request call ins. Most hospitals have these programs and usually come to the college to recruit. I learned much during those two years and even during school 6 days a month was good spending money not to mention I had a foot in the door at graduation.
