How do you become a surface transport nurse?

I have two years experience as an ICU RN and worked previous nursing as an EMT.

What would be the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Your two years might be enough to get you hired as a CCT (critical care transport) RN. Some companies want more experience, like 5-7 years of ER or ICU, but some companies are ok with only two years. This also might be dependent on your geographic area. The usual certs are helpful- CCRN or CEN, TNCC, ACLS and PALS. I would just start applying in your area to any company that is hiring.

When I started CCT I had three years as an RN, 2 of those in the ER, but that was about 5 years ago.

Your ICU experience is perfect for CCTU Nursing. The company I work at in NJ requires thee (3) years of ER, ICU, CICU, NICU, PICU, etc. Depends on who you work for, some want 3 years others want 5 years, another company I know only wants a year.

The company I work for is very large and our nurses are very busy so is our competing company. Our competing company only wants a year.

AMR requires 5 years,

I would suggest using the search button or reading the stickies. Seems like this has been asked and answered several times.

My job requires min 5 years critical care with both adults and kids. Level 1 trauma preferred. All the certs etc. I didn't have to become and EMT or Medic. The pay is not the greatest vs hospital but with the overtime of working 24 hr shifts it balances out a bit plus we get free healthcare benefits. Stand up 24's are not easy at all. It's hard work ;)
