How to act on the orientation/first day of school?

Published

I'm so excited and at the same time scared of all the workload the program entails. But on the otherhand, I am also worried what if my new classmates won't like me or somebody in the class is really annoying? Lol!

I will only parrot what others have already said. You are there for YOUR education, not a popularity contest. most likely there will be a handful of people that you will not like and/or get along with, but for the most part, you will find people who will become some of your closest friends. A shared hardship tends to create those type of friendships.

Thank you, classicdame, duskyjewel, and marcbladebreaker!!! :)

While I hope my classmates like me; the only one I am worried about winning over is my instructor. I hope to win her over with my charm, good looks, and of course, intelligence (ie: grades).

Thank you, mmd32886! :)

Here's one for you - if you (the general you) were a nurse tech or an EMT before nursing school - don't go overboard with sharing your experiences. Nobody really cares, first of all, and secondly despite what you may believe there is a lot more to being an RN than passing meds.

Thank you, VANurse2010! :) I know what you mean. I've had classmates like that when I was taking my A&P and Micro. They were so cocky! Lol!

Haha, I tried to keep things to myself in A&P and micro. If I knew what something was I would answer a question, but I tried not to act like a know it all. Clearly I didn't know it all, which is why I was there in the first place ;)

I could careless if anyone likes me. In fact I don't want anyone talking to me because the way my brain works, your distracting me.

I agree with the others. I just started on the 18th. Some people were familiar with each other before nursing school, but many of us didn't know each other. We're a week in and we're already like family. All of us. There's only 50 of us so it's kind of a small class. The last thing that will be on your mind is if someone likes you or not. Just worry about the workload, cause there will be a big one. Lol.

Good luck.
