Hiiiii everyone! I know this is a little early, but I am graduating in May 2025 and will be applying to Houston Nurse Residencies. I didn't see a forum for this 🙂 since applications haven't started in the next few weeks, so I just wanted to make this for more info! Does anyone know all the application opening dates for TCH, MH, Methodist, etc.? And any advice/insights/interview tips related to nursing residencies?

they called me last Wednesday to set up an interview! and today the recruiter texted me and said she was out of office until the 25th

Wait do you guys mind me asking what your GPA's were? Mine is a 3.2 so I'm thinking that may have put me at a disadvantage 😞 I was really thrown off when they asked for that

What unit did you get and when did you get your call?

Aw dang, do you think that means they are done with scheduling interviews?

Wait is it for TMC? Or a different location?

she said base is $36.25 and it's a $4 night shift diff, and after a year you'll get a $4 PICU differential. it sucks that they decreased it from the $12 it used to be but hey it's better than nothing!

Thanks sm!!

Does anyone know/have any ideas if the recruiter will reach out to us by the end of this week or if they already filled up all the interview spots?

has anyone heard of methodist ??  my portal still says "Your application is under review. If you are selected for further consideration, you will be notified".

Not to sound cynical or pessimistic. I graduated in May 2024, I have under a year of experience and still haven't got a spot in a residency. It's so depressing. I'm nearly giving up on becoming a trauma/ER nurse. Seems like most of these hospital systems require students to be an internal beforehand. If not you hit the lottery! There's been times where I've considered working as HEB management or Costco.

MH - I got the "Cohort Closed" email. Didn't even get a chance to interview first or second choice.
TCH - Haven't received anything about interviews yet...
HCA - Been to their career fairs/hiring days. Interviews can be hit or miss depending on your interviewer. Some don't even want to be there, while others are happy to interview new grads.
Harris Health - never any luck applying here. Get the same old message of spots have filled without ever getting to schedule an interview.

Aw I'm so sorry to hear that, have you tried applying outside your city? Or state? I'm thinking of doing that for the next cohort honestly

I don't think I would even have the funds nor credit to move out of state. Usually relocation packages don't hit your bank account til you work at a company for a couple of paychecks.
