Hiiiii everyone! I know this is a little early but I am graduating this December and will be applying to houston nurse residencies and didn't see a forum for this 🙂 since applications start in a few months, just wanted to make this for more info! Does anyone know all the application opening dates for TCH, MH, Methodist, etc...?

For me it is MD Anderson, then Harris Health and if I don't get either of those two probably gonna go with a job outside of a residency!

I second this! I applied to a couple in Dallas a few days ago on a whim (my husband's family is all in Dallas so it would be nice to move back) and I already have a few interviews lined up for those as well! Both residencies and just normal RN positions.

I truly don't understand why Houston is so over saturated with new grads to the point of people not getting jobs for multiple months (myself included) 🤷🏻♀️
when covid happen a lot of RN were force out to gov. bs taking those shots.. and many went on travel nursing .. and when covid bs died down most of them return to houston, and lets not forget our schools started to increase students back in 2019-2022 created more nurses for the pandemic .. the increase of nursing student in houston the the # of jobs that fill these position were limited. created this issue. also a lot of these jobs required 1 year experience for example ( davita ).. it made it where none of us can find jobs w/o experience ... its a bottle neck school > limited NRP > other RN jobs .. I see a lot of jobs request out there but they all demand experice that affect everyone... thats how I see it, they are limited in spots to give out and they can be picky about it .. its not our market anymore but the hospital choices

What state/s is your license compatible in? do you have an NLC? I was thinking of leaving this coming round

which facilities reached back out? I tried UTSW and Baylor S&W and it's still pending for me

For residencies - HCA for two locations, and Methodist Dallas (although to be fair, when I worked in my previous career in Public Relations I worked for them so that's kind of like cheating)
For RN - Methodist Dallas, Baylor S&W (same situation as Methodist though where I use to work for them in PR), and Texas Oncology

as long as the state you're applying to is a compact state then your texas license will work there!! I went with washington state bc they pay fairly good and cost of living is just slightly more than houston

Memorial Hermann is notorious for being one of the worst hospital systems in terms of application process. I have heard numerous stories of them never getting back to applicants and holding on to their applications without ever even submitting to their second choice or even sending an email to tell them they were not selected for an interview. They like are terrible at follow up and it honestly is so disappointing. They also do this to their own employees who apply within the system. (I work for MMHS)
