U.S.A. Texas

Hi, I just got a position on the orthopedic unit at houston Methodist hospital starting October 14th! I'm just wondering if anyone else is either in the September or October group? Or if anyone can offer any advice on apartment locations, possibly credit unions linked to the hospital?

Specializes in ICU, CCRN.

Congrats on your new position! I'm currently in the process of moving to Texas, not sure if you are looking for in the city or outskirts.

I know the kingwood area is pretty nice.

Can I ask did you follow up by calling or e-mailing HR to get the initial interview or did they contact you?

Talk to HR about an affiliated Credit Union.

I was thinking about looking somewhere in the medical center.. And they contacted me for an interview (mini phone interview first)

At the interview at hmh, the manager told me that they are hiring a lot of new grads and experienced nurses to bring the ratio down from 1:5 to 1:4

I did ask for an affiliated credit union but hr did not know... The do offer relocation reimbursement!

oh ok that would be good to work close to work then. I know from visiting the city part of Houston it seems like its hit and miss with the areas some parts are really nice and go two blocks down and its bad.

How exciting! I've applied to a few of their positions but no call backs or e-mails. =/

Where are you moving from?

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. The medical center area is actually pretty nice.. Lots of gated apartment areas.

Thanks, well I'm pretty sure they are still taking apps for the October program! I'm about three hours away from Houston, however they are still offering me relocation reimbursement.

I'm also in the process of endorsing my rn license from California (where I went to school) which is pretty stressful!

I would definitely keep going for Methodist... The pay is great and ranks higher nationally than the other neighboring hospitals
