Houston Community College Fall 2014

Is there anyone planning to apply for the Fall 2014 ADN program at HCC Coleman??

I'll be in the Tues/Wed 9-12 class!

I already take classes at Coleman and will continue to park at the $6 lots.

Can you please tell me where that is?

@ ljchu: are you excited? I know I am! I'm really hoping to squeeze some material in before class starts too!

@ anyone using the parking lots: I know this is weird, but I save money riding metro. If you can show the people at Metro proof (like a receipt of your paid off classes) that you're a student at HCC then your fare is reduced to 0.60 cents! I use Metro to get to Coleman and I even study on the bus. It's my tip to everyone. :)

I have a weird situation, since like I mentioned before I took Pharm in the Spring of 2013. I applied for the Spring 2014 ADN program, however, the strangest thing happened. I was advised by the ADN dept that my application was not on the accepted or rejected list and they did not know why. Well, I did reactivate my application for Fall 2014. I did not receive an email regarding Pharm like most people seemed to have. I did ask a counselor at Coleman, could I retake Pharm if I wanted to, just to have it fresh in my mind for the Fall program and she said yes (this was before the emails were sent out) I did make an A the first time, so it's not necessarily to improve my grade. I was able to sign up for the class without getting the email as others have mentioned that they did. I'm trying to get in contact with the ADN dept to straighten this out, however I haven't had any luck yet.

I guess I'm in the class so we'll see what happens. I just wanted to vent about this since it was frustrating to me last time and I fear that somehow I'm going to get looked over again since I'm already not receiving communication.

A lot at the corner of Holcombe & Pressler, the other lot is directly behind Shriner's/bank parking accessible off Main-this one is cash only though.

Yikes! That's a very unfortunate situation. Maybe it was a wait-list that they were referring to?

I heard that you're supposed to get a letter about the admission decision after you take Pharmacology and pass it. If you do not hear back after two weeks of finishing your RNSG 1301 class, I highly suggest that you make an appointment and keep calling/pestering them to get to you.

Because this sounds like a lack of communication on their part, and I think it's very unfair they didn't get back to you.

Haibop16, which one did you order: 1 year or 2 year dosage license?

You should start your vaccinations ASAP because it could take more than a month. I took the CPR course at Coleman last friday. It is a 4 hours course. The instructor will give you your CPR card at the end of the class.

If anybody knows anything more about other parking options, please let me know!

I wish to know somebody that could share some of their Pharm's notes that they took before.

Good luck to all of you! :-)

I only got my book, not the Edose yet. But do we need it for next year- should we get the 2 year??? Is it ok to get used in something like that because the bookstore offered it. Heck if I know! Is it just a code?

Ok good idea- I'll start my vaccinations after I get a break and out of finals next week.

Speaking from personal experience, if you want answers to your unanswered questions I highly suggest you go to Coleman yourself, pay the overpriced hourly rate for parking, and speak to the nursing counselors face-to-face. Just imagine how many other students are trying to call in each day with questions of their own. The counselors are way too busy to take the time to answer phone calls. Visiting them in person gives you their undivided attention and will get all of your questions and concerns answered. It may be a little time consuming but when it comes to something as important as this, you want to make sure it is taken care of. Good luck!

lawanaself hi honey. i would advise that you not take this class again.it will show that you took the class again and will count as a repeat in your ADN courses, which might disbable you from re-taking an RNSG course, hence being dropped out of the program. remember, there is no RNSG class that starts in summer and even these pharmacology students have to await their final verdict once they complete pharm. pharm class is not for everyone, it's a make or break class unfortunately some peeps have to re-take it again one more time. so cheer up! wait for your email/letter sometime end of June...meanwhile, pray to your God. *hugs*

Hi,

I did consider that possibility. The counselor told me it won't hurt me to take it again. I spoke with the counselor today and she said that I was on the list to receive the email yet she doesn't know why I didn't get it. I think at this point, I will just review the book on my own at home and continue taking my BSN pre-reqs. So if I don't get in to the HCC program, I can have enough credits to apply to another school like UT, Prairie View or TWU.

I got the W, TH 5-8 pm. I still feel weird though with no communication from HCC, I will probably stop by Fri. I wonder if I didn't get an email because I am already an HCC student.

Looks like there are 3 of is in that class. W, Th. 5-8. I have kids so I to pick evenings.

Do I have to take CPR at HCC? There are so many places in Houston that offer it. I know you have to get the healthcare certification. I'll call and ask. Wish it was just the generic kind. My whole family wanted to take it with me!
