Question, please: Does anyone know where we can go and look for the orientation online for this class Pharm? For my previous classes, I always could go on the school website and look for online orientation, so I'd know what to prepare for the class. However, I could not find that for this class.

@Hailbop16: I don't know the exact deadline for those, but when I turned in my application, the counselor told me to start ASAP. I think we need those by the time the fall semester starts. But I have no clue where to do the background check though.

I may have already asked this but are we supposed to have CPR, vaccines and background check by the time fall classes start or am I already behind and should've gotten it all by now - before pharm?

Yes! You have to complete CPR for healthcare professionals and all your vaccines by the time the fall semester begins. It's best to get on that quickly, because CPR classes fill up fast!!

The Hepatitis B vaccine is given in 3 dosages, so if you don't have that you need to start on that ASAP to make it by fall semester.

From my understanding if you did orientation for another online class, then you're good for Pharmacology. However, I didn't know that Pharmacology requires an orientation? Where did you see that?

Sorry, I got you confused. I did not mean to say that Pharmacology requires orientation. I did not see it anywhere and just wonder if there is one like that online.

Oh okay! You're good. I was just worried I had missed an e-mail or something like that!

Is anyone here going to be taking Tues/Wed (5-8pm) classes with me? :) Also I wish everyone here the best! If all goes well, we'll all be the incoming nursing students this Fall semester :)

I am taking the W, TH 5-8. I think you should have all shots done before end of July to be safe. I do believe HCC will give further info on the background check. I think it is from a company that they contract with, and we will have to pay a fee.

that's correct. Hcc will give you info on how to get your background check and where. It's a good idea to make sure your phone, email and mailing address are correct.

I've already started reading the first two chapters of the Pharmacology books! I heard Pharmacology is tough but that's why I'm trying to get accustomed to the material early on.

I just swapped my Wed/thurs class for Tues/Wed 5-8pm because I heard the teacher was hard. I still don't have my book! Did u get the Calculate with Confidence also?

Oh sweet! We'll be classmates then! Do you know who our professor will be?

I didn't know we needed 'Calculate with Confidence'! Is it optional to have it? I already have the Pharmacology book though. :)

EDIT: oops! I just saw that the system updated with our assigned professors. Apparently we have Deanna Rix. Is anyone familiar with her teaching methods??

I was just looking at a few professor's old syllabus and they all listed the required textbooks. Then they also had 2 recommended textbooks. Calculate with confidence was one of them so I went ahead and got it.

And I don't know anything about the teacher- I googled her and looks like she taught at HBU also, or still teaches there.

I have Calculate with Confidence but I left it in storage back in New York and I'm hesitant to buy another one. But it's a very good book, it has a lot of examples!! I will look for it at Half Price Books and see if I can snag a cheap copy.

I'm a little intimidated because of the ratings on Rate my Professor but then again, I've had terrible professors who got 'good' ratings there. Hahahha
