Is there anyone planning to apply for the Fall 2014 ADN program at HCC Coleman??

I just took my Teas today so I'll be applying soon!

That's awesome how did you do?

Wow. The new NCLEX scores were just posted on the Texas BON website. 66% pass rate for HCC this past year. That's a new low. Actually, many good programs saw their scores fall this time around. Kinda scary.

YIKES that's more than just scary... Are you applying to the ADN program at HCC also?

ljchu -- HCC was on my short list. But now I'm not so sure. Are you applying?

ETA: Based on the BON compilations, looks like scores dropped all across the nation this year. 90% pass rate nationwide for 2012, 84% for 2013. Even in the years before that it still ranged 87-88% nationwide.

It is because schools are accepting less-desirable students to fill seats, or is it an effort to reduce the number of new RNs being churned out right now?

YIKES, indeed.

Yes I am. I guess I will have to take my chances with the NCLEX. *gulps*

What other schools are you planning on applying to? ADN only or BSN too?

Hello I am applying to HCC as well any suggestions? Do you know how they choose?

They now choose based upon a point system. I spoke with one of the nursing advisors two weeks ago and she said they first look at students who have completed all prerequisite classes as well as the recommended classes AP2, microbiology, psych development, etc. Your GPA has to be a 3.0 at least to be considered. She also said that if you took the TEAS more than once, they will take the highest scores from each section on either test you take which is pretty beneficial for applicants. So for example, you score a 75 on the reading section of the first TEAS and a 68 on the second, they will take the highest score of 75. Same rule applies for all other sections. Good luck!

Hey!!

all, I am also trying to apply for this fall,2014 :) I am pretty scared as I am giving Hesi on 30th of April & submitting my application on 31st. It depends how good I do in my Hesi :( I heard that while selecting for admission they'll give less priority to those who dropped & failed their pre-req ; is it true?? I'll be more than happy if u guys have any more info about this & the selection criteria for the ADN.

thanks!

Did you retake those prerequisite classes that you failed?
