36 hours to go and in need of some reassurance

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I am 36 hours away from taking my NCLEX-RN. I graduated the first week of May. I took a 1-2 weeks off and then started listening to NCLEX audio when I am driving. I have also read the Kaplan review book and took the practice test on which I scored 73%. I have also been reading from some other review books and doing 200+ questions a day for the last week. I took a Mosby's practice exam and scored 78%. About a month ago I scored 1059 on my Exit Hesi which is in the 96th percentile. Mostly I am confident, but I took a test on NCLEX 3500 and only scored 60% (a couple of the questions were scored wrong due to not formatting fill in the blank answers correctly) and another one from a HESI book and scored 68% and my confidence was shaken. I don't know that I would ever feel fully prepared for this. I think I just need some reassurance that I can do this. Thanks for taking a minute to let me have a little melt down.

kalley, I graduated roughly about the same time that you did and I truly believe that you never do feel really ready for NCLEX.

I do recommend that you review rationales as well as re-read Kaplan on any areas that trending poorly on. Be sure to get enough rest before the exam and go in there and kick some butt!

Make sure you know the core content...cardio, renal, endo, resp, peds...Be able to link the body systems and diseases...along with basic medications. MAKE SURE YOU STUDY SELECT ALL THAT APPLY QUESTIONS TOO..the board has changed the format. IF you are able to talk about a dx you got it. Also there are no good questions on the board. Everyone is crashing and burning in all your questions. SO ITS LIKE WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP THIS PATIENT BECOME STABLE. Remember that the RN is the only one that can do admissions and discharges, because of patient teaching. Make sure the nurse that is floating to your unit gets the most stable patient out of your pod. Look at your labs if they are norm but on the low side...RED FLAG....no good questions at boards. Review safety, bed assign,isolation....eat a protein snack when you get to the testing site. TELL YOURSELF..I GOT THIS IM JUST COMING TO PICK UP MY LICENSE. My HESI COUNTED YOU HAD TO PASS IT to exit the college....WHEN I TOOK IT....HESI AND THE NCLEX ARE TWO DIFFERENT TEST. So get the hesi out of your head. I used saunders and the college had a live hurst review. But you sound like your on the path to getting your license in the mail!!!!

You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :nurse:

Relax. You can do this.

I got home about two hours ago after taking the NCLEX. The machine shut off after 76 questions (I think I missed question 75). I did the PVT after it was available and I got the good pop up.

YEAH ME!!!! Thanks for giving me a little boost when I needed it!
