hospitals are laughing when they hear my school

i'm not sure about fl but i'm confused when i hear hospitals telling me wherever your instructor places you then stay there. why?? i've just started an rn pgm at itt-tech & am looking for sites to work with. there entrance test wasn't easy, and their curriculum seems appropriate, the school gives me exactly what i want to hear, but the job force is another issue. the feedback is not there. somebody fill me in please...

the school should have hospital partners which are available to choose from with a regular meeting clinical time throughout the term. my program allows us to choose a hospital according to distance needed to travel from home to get on-site and on time. is your school accredited? i have heard about other schools as well that may not be as desirable as others when it comes to the quality of the students knowledge and clinical experience. some adn programs can turn out a better nurse than some bsn programs... that's about all i have for you. good luck.

Are you trying to say that ITT Tech does not have its own clinical sites and that you have to find your own clinical sites?

If that's true then if I were in your shoes I'd be looking for another college. I expect the college I attend to have designated clinical sites. Besides, if you had to find your own site then how would you be on the floor without an instructor.

Well established nursing programs have guaranteed clinical sites for their students. These sites and times are negotiated between the nursing schools and the clinical sites. Some schools also have a better reputation at clinical sites than others.

Buyer beware! Choose a nursing program with a strong history and reputation.

I'm not sure what your question is. Please clarify.

If you are asking about where you should work after graduating from school, then you go where you get a job offer. Yes, it is nice to get an offer from a place where you had a clinical placement, but it is not necessary. Makes it easier for you to fit in, but you can work where you want. You don't have to choose one employer over another because you did your clinical there. You make your choice by deciding which is better for you in the long run. Most students don't have that problem because not very many new grads get multiple offers lately. Good luck.
