Hospitals in the Kansas City area

Depends on what part of KC you're relocating to. If you will be north, I can suggest some area hospitals.

I don't know what part of Kansas City you are moving to. If you are going to be in North Kanasa City and looking to stay up North I say Liberty hospital, North Kansas City and Saint-Lukes Northland will be the one's I would look into. If you are going to be South -Mid Kansas City I would Go to Saint-Lukes on Wornall Rd. If you are going to be closer to Overland Park, Kansas I heard really good things about Menorah Medical which is part of Health Midwest in Kansas City and Saint-Lukes South. If you want to go into Pediatrics Children's Mercy hospital is a really good hospital for Pediatrics. I work at Children's Mercy and I love it and according to Child Magazine they were listed in the Top 10 Pediatric hospitals a couple of years back. Also KU MED is a Top teaching hospital and a Research hospital as well.

No offense to your brother Brandy, but, avoid Research Med Center like the plague!!!!!!!!!! A group of nurses came to speak w/our class about unions - they were from there. They could do nothing but complain about how the facility is run. I've heard from others that it's going downhill fast!

I work at Liberty and like it so far...payed the highest for new grads in the area.

I have to agree with KC chick about Research. I know quite a bit about research through my cousin's ex-wife who use to be a nurse at research and I go to the nursing school right next door. Research college of nursing that is combined with Rockhurst university and while it is a good nursing school the hospital is losing the reputation it once had and someone better do something quick.

Thank you for your help.

I was going to go to school at the south end of the community near the state line but will probably live closer to where I work. I went to Saint Lukes web site and liked that. I was also thinking about looing into Truman Medical Center since they have an anesthesia program and that is what I would like to do.

I don't know much about Truman I been there before and I would go back so I guess that is a good thing. I do know that truman is also a teaching hospital they have LOTS of medical students/residents that rotate through their as well as nursing students but not like the Med students/Residents. Truman is considered the County hospital of Jackson county in Kanasas City so if you have student loans you will qualify for federal nursing loan remibursement if you worked at Truman for at least 2 years I believe.

Others from my class went to Truman. You would definately learn a lot considering the variety of patients from the inner city. They also have great bennies as far as college is concerned.....pay full tuition for UMKC classes and you might even catch a break w/anesthesia school. Liberty sent me to a perioperative program and one of the instructors from their school of anesthesia gave a presentation....he was very cool!!! Truman also offers a bonus for a two year commitment.....$7500.00 - 10,000.00 depending upon how you ranked in your graduating class.

I chose Liberty for my own reasons. Definately check into Truman if you are interested in becoming a CRNA.

Has anyone heard anything about St. Josephs's or Shawnee Mission Medical Center? Good places to work for?
