Hospital food

Published

This is a little on the lighter side than most topics.

when helping a Pt eat and encouraging them to eat their meal do you ever think "your food looks disgusting, and the smell makes me gag" while you are telling them "your food smells so good and you should try and eat some so that you can get the nutrients and start feeling better"

I think this ever time i set up the meal try that the food looks gross.

what do you think?

I love the hospital food here and at the last hospital I worked at. Everything is cooked right in front of you and it's not like school food at all. Much better. After I had my baby the hospital here did the room service thing too. I remember asking my OBGYN when can I eat, he was like oh my goodness you're in labor and you're thinking about food!

Room service sounds like a great idea. I am among those who think that hospitals should not serve nutrient-poor, high saturated fat/trans fat foods. I can think of a number of healthful options that are not terribly expensive to prepare.
