This is almost as bad as the doctors who did unnecessary heart surgery just to make money for the hospital.

If this had gone through, how many genuinely sick people would have had delays in their treatment because of this? And it would have all come out of our pockets.

Actually, from the article,it looks like this may have been going on long enough that US and Ca taxpayers WERE paying into this scam.

I bet this develops more 'legs'. " Los Angeles Metropolitan and the Tustin hospital are owned by Pacific Health Corp. and Los Angeles-based Intercare Health Systems owns City of Angels.". Most certainly further investigations into the parent corporations are already under way.

This makes me physically ill. I think of all the people out there who are filing bankrupsy(sp?) because of medical bills and these people are doing crap like this? I say lock them up and throw away the key.

For a while, there, I was chiming in on threads that had to do with abuse of the system. I always pointed out that for every dollar "stolen" by a welfare recipient ''scamming'' the system for free meds, food and rides home, dishonest providers and middlemen were stealing thousands upon thousands of insurance and tax money!

I generally got ignored ... the underclass is easier to despise than big businessmen in their BMWs and silk suits.

It's behavior like this that gives me pause when discussing a single payer health care system. If you think the fraud is rampant now ...!
