Hospice position

I posted this in the hospice and case management threads and have not gotten a response after a few days. Maybe someone can help me here. Can you give me an idea of how a typical day might go for someone who is a hospice case manager? The setting would be visiting pts in various nursing homes. Any info at all would be appreciated. Thanks.

A normal day for a RNCM is full and extremely busy. They do have a set schedule of patients to see everyday (NH and homes). While seeing your scheduled patients you may have to check on others d/t decline or crisis, and check or order meds for patients. However, some days are easier, there is never a "routine day" in hospice. Patients conditions can change at the drop of a hat, and therefore, so can a schedule!! Hospice is a very hard line of work, but for me it has been a great experience!~~~~GOOD LUCK

I couldn't have said it any better, things certainly do change at the drop of a hat in Hospice!

I am an oncology nurse and I really think Hospice nurses have a very tough job. You have to be very flexible and knowlegdible in all aspects of nursing. Hats off to Hospice nurses everywhere!
