Horray! I just got a job offer for a new grad position in the Emergency Department. The position comes with 6 Months of orientation and pretty decent pay (for the area).
I will graduate in May and I am very excited (and nervous) to have a position secured before all of the other grads flood the market.
The reason I have a job is I took a job as a PCT and worked my butt off as I finished my last semester of school. I also have a second job waiting tables so I can pay my bills. I think jobs are out there, many just aren't willing to accept what is available or sacrifice and put in what is needed to get the jobs.
I also worked as an aide in a hospital in school PLUS a second job, and graduated with a high gpa, and applied to all shifts and areas of nursing. It took me 6 months to find a job, and neither my aide experience nor my gpa was a factor in securing that. So your logic behind why you got a job fails there. It may have helped you, but it doesn't help everyone.
