Hi,
I am currently an enrolled nurse working in Hong Kong and I plan to move to New York to continue my career. I will be married soon and my spouse is a US citizen. I believe that a Hong Kong EN is equal to LPN but not sure. Also I do not speak English too well.
1. Will my HK education (2 year nurse program) be enough for LPN requirement in NY?
2. In my case, what is the logical steps to be a nurse in NY (green card, NCLEX, English training, etc...)? What order should I do them in?
THANKS

Hi and welcome to the site
Because you will be moving to the US through marriage to a US citizen at the moment you will not need visa screen certificate (that may change in the future) and you will get green card through marriage so again not a problem you just need to go through the process with immigration and marriage to US citizen. Are you planning on moving to the US with a fiance visa or marriage visa?
Regarding your training the only way to know whether NY will accept your requirements is to apply and go through the process of getting your transcripts evaluated. It may be that you have to make a few hours/courses up which you may be able to sort out in the US.You will not be able to sit NCLEX until you get the OK from NY BON
I would also say it will be more beneficial if you pass English exam and practice your English as much as possible
I have been to the US before (vacation) and plan to mary there. I know I will need CES to check my education. You said I might need to make up class so does that mean that NY BON can approve part of my education??? Do CES check English???
If they approve, do I have to take the exam right away? I might need time to study. Do I also need my green card to do this? Thanks

For NY you need CVS not CES and as far as I remember you do not need English exam for NY but really need to check with their website first. You do not need green card to sit NCLEX but before you can sit that you do need to get the OK from NY and then pay pearsonvue who will send your ATT.
There will be a delay from getting married to getting your EAD and greencard but this will give you change to go through the process with NY and study for the exam. I take it you are going over on the K1 fiancee visa
