I am an American nurse, and I am considering a move to Hong Kong in January 2011. At that time I will have a MSN degree in nursing and would be seeking a position as a Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nurse. I have reviewed information on the internet about nursing in Hong Kong, but have only found info on RN licensing and jobs. Does anybody know if there will be ANY opportunities for a nurse with an advanced degree?? Can anybody point me in the right direction? Even the HK Nursing Council does not have info online about advanced practice nursing. I would also be interested in teaching.
I am grateful for any info anyone can provide.
Hi Wonnel, I'm a filipina nurse and I want to work in your hospital as nurse or HCA. I applied there once but I was rejected because my work status is DH. I thought working there as DH was my way of getting a job as a nurse. Anyway, I already passed the HKNC written exam last march 24, 2011 and also waiting for the result of my practical exam. I wish to work in Matilda even as health care assistant in case I did not pass the actual. Hope you can help me. Thanks
Hi radar17.rn , you don't need an agency...all you have to do is go to their website and download the application form for nurses trained outside HK or you may check this website http://www.dh.gov.hk/english/useful/useful_forms/files/application%20for%20RN_EN%20for%20overseas%20applicants_Eng_Oct_2011.pdf

Hello, everyone!
I also passed the written part of the licensure examination held on March 2012. I badly need information on the practical exam. What should I be studying/reviewing? Can anyone share their experiences with this part of the test? I really need help!
Also, I'll be going back to Hong Kong for the June exam. Anybody else here who is from the Philippines? I'm from Cebu. It would be great to know somebody else who would be taking the test as well. :)

Dear hahahahhahaa,
I have met two overseas nurses in HK and they both do not have HK identity card. They even apply for the student visa and come to HK for liscense examination.
And if your parents are HK citizens then you should no worry about to get your HKID ! it's very simple.
But if you only have one of the parents got the HKID, then you may need to have 7 years stay or live in HK in order to get the full citizenship!
but i think working visa is easy to get once you have the RN liscense in HK ^^
