Honest Opinion - Marymount Accelerated BSN - 2010/2011

Published

I've been accepted for Marymount's Accelerated BSN program starting in January 2010, and have also been accepted by another out of state school. Before making a final decision, I'd like to hear what people who are in the program, or who have graduated from the program think about Marymount's ABSN program.

Private nursing schools are very expensive, and I want to make the right choice - financially. But I also want to get the very best education possible. If you think there are schools in the DC/MD/VA area that are better, I'd like to know why. And if you think Marymount has some special things going for it, I'd like to hear about that, too.

Thanks!

I am not too worried about the price just wanted to see what someone who went there lived .. and any housing information you could give me. I can make it work... just dont know where to start ...

but i am not going to live in a 3000 a month luxury apt haha

any advice on looking or certain apartments.

I'm guessing you don't live in the area right now? Generally, housing anywhere near DC and near metro lines is going to be expensive. Arlington is definitely an expensive area. And then the commute is somewhat hellish so there is that.

What is your price range for housing? That might help direct you.

I have found a couple places... no more than 1200 a month...

are you in the program at marymount?

Also... if anyone is attending marymount for spring 2012 let me know!!! We should talk before orientation :)

I am applying to other programs in the area but read about the various schools even if I'm not applying. I have friends that live in Arlington and I live in Maryland.

$1200 should get you a place but you'll probably want to look at older apartment buildings. A studio or a one bedroom apartment should be doable. I think south of Arlington is a bit cheaper so you may have better luck there.

I lived by Fort Meyer. I lived in my own place..pretty crappy..and I paid 1300 a month. So...prepared. If you get roommates you will do better. Just remember...everything in Arlington is more expensive. One thing..I just walked to Clarendon stop and then got off at Marymount stop. They have shuttles to and from MU. The only time I drove anywhere was to clinicals.

yeah i am from maryland just north of baltimore and my boyfriend lives in downtown dc ( dupont circle) ... wish I could get a list of people who are going to be in the program with me :( maybe someone else needs a roomie too

Have you looked on Facebook for any groups? I know I've seen University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins nursing students make groups on Facebook.
