Home Health without an Agency?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello!

I am an LPN, and I recently had a mother contact me about taking care of her 11 year old disabled daughter. I'm going to have an interview with her this Tuesday. I'm concerned, however, because I am not with any agency, and I don't know how this would all work. She found out my info through a pediatric clinic I applied to, however wasn't able to work at.

Am I even able to work as a nurse in her home? I feel there might be legal issues with this, and also liability issues.

I would love to work with her daughter, but is a bad decision? Please respond before my interview! :)

You may be able to work independently.

Considerations include your scope of practice as an LPN, whether the family will be paying out of pocket, personal liability (malpractice), and whether your state or locality requires a business license to provide services.
